Crane Load Cell
A crane load cell is essentially a transducer that converts the mechanical force (load being lifted) into an electrical signal. This signal is then processed and displayed on a Load Moment Indicator (LMI) / Safe Load Indicator (SLI) system, allowing the operator to know the exact load being handled.
Types of Crane Load Cells
- Tension Load Cell- Measures tensile (pulling) force directly from the load.
-
S-Type Load Cell- Shaped like the letter “S”, works in tension & compression.
-
L-Type Load Cell- Special “L” shaped design used for side force or off-axis load measurements.
-
Pin-Type Load Cell (Shear Pin Load Cell) - Replaces a structural pin/shaft in the crane (e.g., boom hinge, pulley, hook block).
-
Rope Clamp Load Cell (Clamp-on Sensor) - Mounted directly on the wire rope without cutting or modifying it.
